Match Parameters
Overview
Match is a command for copying all matching user parameters from a source component to selected destination components in an Inventor assembly. This tool streamlines the process of synchronizing parameters between similar or different types of components, ensuring consistency and reducing manual entry.
When you use Match, all matching user parameters are copied from the source to the destination components, except for any parameter named "ShowPlanes," which is skipped. Only parameters that are common to both components are copied, making it easy to update multiple parts at once without affecting unique or unrelated parameters.
Match is useful for copying parameters between duct fittings, supports, or other components, helping maintain design standards and simplify updates across assemblies.
How It Works
- Select the source component with the desired parameters.
- Choose the destination components to receive the copied parameters.
- Run the Match command to copy all matching parameters, skipping "ShowPlanes."
Usage Instructions
- Open your assembly in Inventor.
- Click the Match button in the Configure panel.
- Select the source component and then the destination components.
- Verify that matching parameters have been copied as expected.
Troubleshooting
- If parameters are not copied, ensure both source and destination components have matching parameter names.
- Check for read-only or locked parameters that may prevent copying.
- Verify that "ShowPlanes" is not included in the copied parameters.
Examples
- Copy parameters between duct fittings: Synchronize values and keys for consistent design.
- Update support stands: Copy matching parameters from a fitting to a support stand for uniformity.
- Batch update multiple components: Use Match to quickly apply parameter changes across selected parts.
